3 Giorgi Chakvetadze replacements Watford should consider amid Premier League transfer interest
Watford have seen some of their big assets move on in recent windows and Giordi Chakvetadze could be the latest.
Watford sold Ismael Kone and Yaser Asprilla in the summer, with Marseille and Girona swooping.
The Hornets are no strangers to seeing their top players snapped up by sides at a higher level and it seems as though Georgian standout Chakvetadze could be one of the latest to make such a move.
Reports have claimed that Premier League clubs including Wolves are taking an interest in the attacking midfielder. The Vicarage Road outfit won’t let him go on the cheap though, with an asking price of between £15m and £20m reportedly set.
Watford will need a replacement if someone does swoop for Chakvetadze, and they’ll need to be an eye-catching addition to fill his boots. Here, we pick out three players the Hornets should keep in mind…
Pavel Sulc – Viktoria Plzen
23-year-old Czechia ace Sulc might not come cheap but he could be a great player for Watford to pursue if they are to lose Chakvetadze in the future.
Since coming through the Viktoria Plzen academy, the midfielder’s stock has grown and grown and sits at an all-time high. Six goals and four assists in 19 games across all competitions this season takes him to 32 goals and 17 assists in 128 games for the club.
Sulc is under contract until 2026 and as an eight-time Czechia international, he won’t come cheap. However, he still has plenty of developing to do and after some big sales, Watford deserve to see that reinvested.
