“I love Thomas” – Defender urges Thomas Frank not to walk out on Brentford.
Thomas Frank was one of the candidates linked with Manchester United, and the vacancy made by Erk ten Hag’s exit.
Ruben Amorim is the candidate that United have now chosen, meaning that the Brentford boss will stay at his club.
That shouldn’t discredit what the Dane has done at the London side, turning them into an established Premier League club that often threatens the bigger boys.
There have been some doubts in recent weeks about whether Frank can take a job as big as Manchester United in the future, but some support has arrived in the former ex-Brentford man Pontus Jansson.
In a chat with Bold in Denmark, the ex-Bees defender was asked about Frank and his links with Manchester United. He said: “Thomas Frank didn’t do worse than Ten Hag, so he could do the job well.”
Jansson also went on to speak about his hope that Brentford don’t lose their much-loved boss.
“I love Thomas, who is a fantastic person and a fantastic coach. But I hope he doesn’t leave Brentford. We have to see what happens in the future.”
Frank is no stranger to ‘flirting’ with other opportunities, and his recent round of interviews, in the UK and Denmark, appeared to be an exercise in that.
That suggests the Bees boss will not be against seeking greener pastures and if an attractive offer arrives, he could seek an exit.
That would be unfortunate for the London club, who have come a long way under Frank and he’s managed to build the club in his identity.
