Report: Colts' Michael Pittman Jr. expected to be out multiple weeks

Jets Didn’t Plan to Make Massive Trade Before Saleh Firing

The New York Jets will look to keep their playoff hopes alive on Thursday night against the Houston Texans.

After beginning the season with high hopes, the Jets have lost five straight games and sit at the bottom of the AFC East. The team made a shocking move prior to Week 6, firing coach Robert Saleh and promoting interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Owner Woody Johnson claimed that he made the call to fire Saleh, as he felt the team was not playing up to their expectations. However, they have yet to win a game since the firing, leading many to speculate that Saleh was never the problem in the first place.

NFL insider Albert Breer provided more information on the firing on Monday, reporting that many of the players on the team were not on board with the move, and felt the defense could suffer because of it. Breer also reported that the team did not have an offer on the table for All-Pro receiver Davante Adams before Saleh’s firing. The Jets ended up acquiring Adams just a week after firing Saleh, meaning that the team was desperate to make a move to jumpstart their offense after their struggles. However, since acquiring Adams, the offense has not looked much better.
