National media reacts to Dan James display in Leeds United win v Plymouth
Leeds United produced a dominant performance, outclassing struggling Plymouth Argyle 3-0 on Saturday (2 November) at Elland Road.
With that win, Daniel Farke’s side have consolidated their second place in the Championship.
The Whites scored three goals in seven minutes to end the game as a contest well before half-time.
Dan James, who was a major doubt for this game, fired into the top corner from the edge of the box in the 30th minute.
Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson scored in quick succession as the Whites picked up a comfortable win to maintain pressure at the top.
The Sunday Mirror has described James’s goal as a “cracker”, and they have given him an 8/10 rating.
Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion last season, and Farke should make sure that his side learn from last season’s mistakes.
The Whites had a tough summer transfer window where they lost several key players like Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville, but they have done incredibly well so far.
Dan James impressed heavily in Leeds win v Plymouth
James managed three shots during the game and provided two key passes, and was also involved in the third goal.
He won one aerial duel and made over 81% passing accuracy. James also made one tackle as he capped off a superb all-round performance.
The Whites fans were a bit concerned with his fitness, but he allayed those fears with a stupendous display.
Leeds have extended their unbeaten run to eight games in the Championship, winning five of them.
Plymouth had no answer, and Leeds were able to see off the competition in style in the second half where they kept control quite comfortably.
What was really impressive was that Leeds didn’t go after goal galore after the break. They took off the handbrake after the third goal and made sure the scoreline remained intact.
Farke will also be pleased with the performance of Wilfried Gnonto, who has become the youngest Leeds player to register 12 assists for the club.
