‘Always nice’ – West Brom eyes ‘cup run’ with loan side after weekend FA Cup win
West Brom’s Josh Griffiths has said he wants to have a ‘cup run’ with loan side Bristol Rovers this season.
West Brom let the goalkeeper join the League One side on a temporary basis in the last transfer window.
Griffiths, 23, helped the Gas beat Weston-super-Mare in the FA Cup first round over the weekend.
They have been drawn an away trip to Barnsley in the second round. He has said, as per the Pirates’ official club website: “The magic of the cup is exciting. We’ll always be watching the draw, so we want to have a cup run or get a big team in the third round. It’s always nice to progress.
“I’m not fussed if it’s home or away. It’s nice to tick a stadium that I haven’t played at, but home or away, we’ll be happy. We’ve got to win the next game and get through to the third round.”
After their win against Weston-super-Mare, he added:“I think that shows the strength and depth we’ve got in the squad. In a lot of games this season, the subs have come on, have been really important and won us points. I’m buzzing for (Grant) Ward; it was a great finish at the end.”
