“Probably be Premier League interest” – West Brom: Claim made on Josh Maja, Tom Fellows price-tags.

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

West Bromwich Albion’s start to the season was excellent, and while they have struggled to find wins more recently, their squad is still packed full of talent.

Carlos Corberan has managed to reinstate some confidence in his team despite losing in the play-off semi-finals in 2023/24, and the Baggies have put themselves into early contention for a top six finish once again.

It has been a long campaign already, even though it is only November, but the Championship table is seemingly no closer to shaping itself as the league pauses for the final international break of 2024.

Hopes will be high that West Brom can find themselves in the same form that they started the season in when they return against Norwich City on 23 November, and they will need their key stars to help ensure that.

Verdict made on Josh Maja’s and Tom Fellows’ price-tags
While performances have not been fantastic recently, the Baggies do possess the quality in their ranks to turn it around and start firing once again.

They have had plenty of surprise stars so far in 2024/25, most namely Josh Maja, who scored seven goals in his first seven matches, including a hat-trick on the opening day against QPR.

Football League World has asked their West Brom Fan Pundit, Callum Burgess, what price-tag he would put on his team’s two best players.

He told FLW: “With a strong start to the season in mind, for Albion’s best player, I’d probably price Josh Maja at around £10m.

“I recall a comment from Dave Edwards on commentary when we beat Portsmouth 3-0 where he described him as the best link-up striker in the league. So not only has he shown his ability in front of goal, you’ve also got a really good all-round striker, which in the Championship having someone of his quality has been a blessing so far.

“Despite his form stagnating from the first few weeks, I think Maja has still shown those bits of quality, which probably means that he is definitely in the top range of strikers in the division.”

Callum continued: “Meanwhile, probably our second-best player is probably Tom Fellows and with his potential in mind, you’re looking at a £20m player.

“With some of his wing play, as I mentioned, he’s 21-years-old and already got one of the best deliveries from the wing in the division, and he’s able to beat his defender quite consistently as well.

“So, out of the two, there will probably be Premier League interest in Fellows in the near future, and we’d probably be able to get a decent amount for him as well.”

Fellows could be targeted once again in January
Although there has been a lot of focus on Maja this season, Fellows has come into his own once again, and has proven why he had Premier League clubs circling him in the summer transfer window.

Both Everton and Southampton took a liking to the winger in August, and according to TeamTalk, the Saints had a £10m bid rejected.

The January window could see those towards the bottom end of the Premier League start to panic and throw increased bids at clubs in the Championship for stars like Fellows, and it would not be a surprise if either of the pair come in once again for the 21-year-old.
