Rangers join Stoke City in pursuit of Wrexham star.
Wrexham wing-back Ryan Barnett is now on Rangers’ radar amid links with Stoke City and Preston, as per TBR Football.
Wrexham have enjoyed a fine start to life in League One and the form of Ryan Barnett has been a big part of their early success, with Stoke City among those taking note of his contributions.
The 25-year-old has locked down the spot as Phil Parkinson’s go-to man at right wing-back. A goal and five assists in 13 League One games has him among the third-tier’s most productive players at this early stage.

Championship side Stoke were linked alongside Preston North End last month. Now, it is claimed Barnett has another high-profile admirer.
According to a report from TBR Football, Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are also on the trail of the Wrexham star. It comes amid revelations that the Ibrox outfit are also tracking Peterborough United ace Kwame Poku, another of League One’s standout players.
Barnett is under contract until the summer of 2026. It means a cheap deal for such an in-form player is unlikely, but that might not be enough to fend off interest as clubs look at offering him a jump up from League One.
One to hold onto
Barnett has been on the journey from the National League to League One with Wrexham and given how he has managed this latest step up, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he could move to a higher level and find success there too.
As such, with his impressive form in mind, it’s perhaps not a big surprise that the likes of Rangers, Stoke City and Preston North End are taking an interest.
The Red Dragons hold ambitions of reaching those heights themselves though. Barnett is among the key players who will have an influential role in achieving those goals, so they will be eager to retain his services and fend off this growing interest.
Time will tell if January bids come in or if his admirers eye potential cut-price deals if he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the current campaign.
