Wolves and Brighton are reportedly interested in signing Eric Dier for free this summer.

Wolves and Brighton plot shock swoops for 49-time England international.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly planning an approach for an ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender.
Wolves are looking into the possibility of signing Bayern Munich centre-back Eric Dier this summer, when he will become a free agent.

The former Tottenham man racked up 15 Bundesliga appearances last season but he’s hardly played this term, accumulating just 141 minutes across all competitions. Dier was an opportunistic signing by Bayern as he joined on an initial loan before they made his move permanent when his Spurs deal expired.

As Dier has effectively been a reserve this campaign, it’s unlikely he will be offered a contract extension beyond his current expiry date of June 30. As a result, interested parties will be allowed to speak to the 30-year-old from January.

TBR Football reports Wolves are among several Premier League clubs eager to tie Dier down to a pre-contract agreement this winter. Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are two other English sides said to be interested as they seek to add depth and experience in defence.

There’s also competition from across the pond, though, as a host of Major League Soccer outfits are keen on Dier. A move to America could prove tempting if the ex-England international believes the peak days of his career have passed.

A Three Lions appearance-maker 49 times between 2015 and 2022, Dier has plenty of experience at the highest level. The defender was a regular starter at EURO 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, while he also made two substitute appearances at the 2022 World Cup. He’s also played 36 times in the Champions League.
