West Brom’s Jayson Molumby sees his contract expire at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension.

West Brom risk losing the midfielder for nothing in June 2025 unless he commits his future to the club. The upcoming January transfer window will be their last chance to pick up a fee for him if he isn’t in their long-term plans.

Molumby, 25, was wanted back by Millwall over the summer, as reported by The Mirror, but a deal didn’t happen in the end and he stayed put at The Hawthorns beyond the deadline in early September. He has since made 12 league appearances for the Baggies this season and has chipped in with a single goal.

His long-term future with Carlos Corberan’s side remains up in the air though and they need to weigh up what to do with him next this winter as they look to gain promotion to the Premier League. They are currently sat in 4th place.

Molumby seems to be a player who West Brom trust as he has been a regular for them in the middle of the park in this campaign.

He is a safe pair of hands and battles it out with the likes of Alex Mowatt and Uros Racic for a place in the starting XI.

Securing a new deal for him would eradicate the risk of him leaving next year, potentially to a fellow Championship side, for free which would be a blow.

Alternatively, if Corberan decides he isn’t someone who he wants to keep long-term then he should look at cashing in on him this winter to ensure money is made for a replacement.

West Brom signed the Republic of Ireland international, who has 26 caps under his belt, back in 2021 on an initial loan deal before making his switch permanent.

Prior to his move to his current club, he spent seven years on the books at Brighton and Hove Albion after joining them as a youngster. The Cappoquin-born man went on to play five times for the Seagulls’ first-team, as well as having loan spells away from the AMEX Stadium at Millwall and Preston North End to get some experience under his belt.
