Top Free Agent Reliever Pretty Much Says He Wants to Sign With Dodgers
Former Diamondbacks closer Paul Sewald has entered free agency and is searching for his next team.
During an appearance on the Foul Territory show on Wednesday, he shared insights into what he’s seeking in his next opportunity.
However, it sounds like he has his mind made up and wants to pitch for a specific team in 2025.
During a recent appearance on the “Foul Territory” show, Sewald said he is focused on finding the best situation for him and mentioned the Los Angeles Dodgers as a potential fit even if means not having a set closer role.
“The most important thing that I want is to go to a situation where I’m going to be comfortable and I can pitch my best,” Sewald said. “Now, if that’s in the eighth inning in L.A., then that’s the eighth inning in L.A. If it’s the ninth inning somewhere else, then that’s where I’m going to take it. I think for me, most importantly, I’ve shown that I can be a closer.
It’s notable how frequently Sewald mentioned the Dodgers, indicating they’re clearly on his radar. It makes sense, given Los Angeles just secured a World Series title and is poised to be even stronger next year with several injured pitchers expected to return.
