It was a big moment for the 22-year-old, who appears to have bounced back after a difficult few years following the move to Wolves earlier in his career.

He joined them for €40m in September 2020 but has never really settled at Molineux, spending the last few years on loans with Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers last season.

This year he’s at Las Palmas and making a positive impression so far, with three goals and one assist in nine games in La Liga to date.

He seems well suited to life in Spanish football and is certainly riding the crest of a wave at this moment in time, hence his debut for Portugal.
Spain being an ideal destination for him is definitely something he is feeling, explaining why he thinks things are going so well this season.

“I already said that it is the league that I always wanted to play in, and I had that feeling, I felt that it was the league that was going to give me other things,” he said.

“We are also talking about a league that perhaps after the Premier League is the most popular league, also in terms of opinion and personal taste. Perhaps the places where I went and those leagues where I went, which are perhaps also making me excel in the game here in La Liga.

“Because perhaps in other leagues they forced me to be more defensive, more offensive, to be stronger, to hold the ball more. And now I don’t feel that difficulty so much and I can balance the team.
