Significant development for Gary O’Neil and Wolves ahead of Bournemouth clash next weekend.

As Wolves picked up their second win of the season in the Premier League against Fulham, there was a key development ahead of the next match with Bournemouth.

Wolves beat Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, giving their best performance of the season so far.

This had the potential to be a really tricky game. Fulham have started the season well under Marco Silva.

Wolves didn’t start great and found themselves 1-0 down after Alex Iwobi had scored. But Matheus Cunha equalised in brilliant fashion, and then blew Fulham away in the second-half.

Cunha was likened to Dennis Bergkamp by pundit Ashley Williams for the way he took his first goal, and it was just another stellar performance from the Brazilian.

It was a terrific result for Wolves, and all of a sudden there is optimism again at Molineux, ahead of some pretty reasonable fixtures.

Next up is Bournemouth, and there’s been an interesting development ahead of the game for Gary O’Neil.

Bournemouth were in action against Brighton yesterday and lost 2-1 at home.

The Cherries will have been very disappointed to lose at the Vitality Stadium, but manager Androni Iraola has even more reason to be frustrated.

That’s because Antoine Semenyo picked up his fifth yellow card of the season for Bournemouth, meaning he will now miss the game with Wolves next weekend.

The 24-year-old was booked for lunging in on Georginio Rutter.

This is an interesting development for Wolves, as Semenyo is widely considered to be one of Bournemouth’s best players.

This season, he has scored four goals and provided one assist in 13 games.

What Gary O’Neil has said about Antoine Semenyo
Semenyo being unable to play for Bournemouth next weekend is significant for Wolves, who are now in the ascendency after back-to-back Premier League wins.

Semenyo has been having a fantastic season, and was recently reported to be in the top three players in the Premier League for successful dribbles. He also made headlines for his fantastic performance against champions Manchester City and giving Kyle Walker the runaround.

The Ghanaian is a physical specimen and has a real turn of pace, but also had a great touch for a player of his size.

He’s a player O’Neil knows of course having managed Bournemouth previously. He said in 2023 (via Bournemouth Daily Echo): “he’s willing, works his socks off, takes on every bit of info you give him and has real good attributes that can hurt teams. But he can play anywhere across the top line. He’s both-footed, equally off both sides.
