Indianapolis Colts cut ties with former Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher.

The Indianapolis Colts are cutting former Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher Genard Avery, the team announced on Saturday. They are moving on from Avery after activating Tyquan Lewis from injured reserve, and it will be Avery’s spot on the roster that he will take.

Avery has been in the NFL for multiple seasons, and the Colts are the latest team to waive him. If he clears waivers and does not find a new home, it seems likely that he will re-sign to the Colts’ practice squad.

The 29-year-old has played with the Colts since 2023, when he signed with the team. He has played with five different teams since being a fifth-round pick out of Memphis in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

That includes a short stint with the Steelers. Avery signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh but was cut quickly into his tenure after the Steelers and Avery thought the schematic fit did not work out. He went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after that.

Avery’s most successful years came from 2019 to 2021 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has 8.5 sacks and 106 total tackles.

Best Bet: Jameson Williams Is Clutch Against Colts.

Williams going over 42.5 receiving yards is Week 12 NFL best bet.

The Detroit Lions got a career performance from wide receiver Jameson Williams last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hauling in four passes for 123 yards, Williams displayed his dynamic speed in the team’s blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. His 123 receiving yards were a career-high.

Now, heading into Week 12, Williams could again take on a big role as the Lions look to make their winning streak nine games with a win over the Indianapolis Colts. Since returning from a suspension in Week 10 against the Texans, Williams has seven catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.

He’s also a big-play threat, as he’s averaged 22.4 yards per catch in 2024. That number ranks second behind only Indianapolis’ Alec Pierce. All four of his touchdowns this season, in fact all seven of his career receiving touchdowns, have been 30 yards or longer.
