Borussia Dortmund eye move to sign Sunderland jewel Jobe Bellingham
Sunderland youngster Jobe Bellingham is enjoying a fantastic 2024/25 campaign.
The 19-year-old midfielder joined the Black Cats from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023, and he has been outstanding for the club.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and several clubs are vying for his signature already.
During the summer transfer window, he was heavily linked with a move to Crystal Palace, but any potential deal didn’t materialise.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the Sunderland “jewel”.
Dortmund have been heavily impressed by Jobe, who is the younger brother of Jude Bellingham.
He is seen as a “rising star” and the “new phenomenon” of British football.
Sunderland have slapped a £25 million asking price to release their star midfielder.
Dortmund believe the “mini-Bellingham” can make a similar impact as his brother, who enjoyed three memorable years at Signal Iduna Park before moving to Real Madrid.
Sunderland under no pressure to sell Bellingham
The young midfielder has a contract at the Stadium of Light until 2028, and Sunderland are under no pressure to sell him.
The Black Cats are second in the Championship table, sharing the same points as Leeds United after 16 games.
Sunderland are one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League next season and losing Bellingham in January would be a catastrophic blow to their ambitions.
Bellingham has scored two goals and provided one assist in 13 Championship starts this season, and he is vital to Sunderland’s promotion hopes.
