Coventry City manager latest as Frank Lampard talks near conclusion and backroom staff details emerge
It is believed that Frank Lampard is at the advanced stages of securing his new job as Coventry City head coach
Frank Lampard is edging closer to being appointed at the new head coach of Coventry City – and the deal could even happen in the next 24 hours.
Lampard soared to the top of the bookmaker’s lists as the front runner for the job, last week. Now it seems the Sky Blues board are ready to name their man.
Doug King has been working behind the scenes doing due diligence on all candidates and interviewees as the club look to move on from the controversial sacking of Mark Robins.
As we reported last week, Lampard was thought to be in advanced talk s with the club and the former Chelsea, and Derby coach is now in the process of finalising terms ahead of talking over at the CBS Arena.
Lampard hasn’t managed since leaving Chelsea and his intern position at the end of the 2022-23 season and is now ready to step back into the fray. The Telegraph claims that King has connections to Lampard’s uncle, Harry Redknapp and claims that Lampard could even be in charge for the home game against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Journalist Alan Nixon has also backed Lampard to be named and has revealed that Joe Edwards will be his number two. He writes: “Coventry City plan to name Frank Lampard as boss today – with old pal Joe Edwards set to join him as his number two.
