Spotted: Leeds United tunnel footage suggests major change of heart for Max Wöber.
Leeds United centre-back Max Wöber is having to fight to win over fans at Elland Road following his return from a loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, but all signs suggest he’s committed to the cause.
The Whites are top of the league today as they prepare to take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, knowing that at least one of Sheffield United or Sunderland will be dropping points this evening.
A clash against Blackburn Rovers presents an opportunity for Leeds to collect their fourth successive win, after brushing aside Luton Town on Wednesday night at Elland Road with a 3-0 win.

Max Wöber’s re-introduction to the Leeds squad after using his loan clause last season went down as expected in pre-season, booed when coming off the bench against Valencia and not yet managing to win over the fans since.
He’s not had much chance to showcase his abilities at this level though, only starting once in the EFL Cup defeat against Middlesbrough, before meniscus injury kept him out for a large chunk between September and November.
However, he’s back in the squad now and has two successive sub appearances under his belt away at Swansea and at home to Luton, where he looked solid at left-back in both.
He recovered possession and set Leeds on their way for the late winner in South Wales, and replaced Sam Byram on Wednesday while providing good thrust down the left channel, while itching to take a dangerous free-kick too – perhaps suggesting his willingness to strike a good bond with the Leeds fans again by getting off the mark.

Question marks over the Austrian’s commitment to the cause are just inherent of his situation right now after the manner of his return, but he’s striving to show he’s a part of the plans long-term.
Footage from after the 3-0 win this week has emerged in LUFC’s Uncut video (6:39) showing the players heading back to the dressing room as Marching On Together blasts on the PA system.
Spotted on social media by @lufcjt_, Wöber heads down the tunnel singing the club anthem:

It’s going to take a lot for the Austrian to become a popular character again inside Elland Road, with the fans rightly not forgetting him jumping ship a year ago.
However, given the need for depth at the back, and the fact he can play at left-back and centre-back, he’s showing his worth to us right now.
There’s only one way he’s going to get back in the good books again and that’s by following Brenden Aaronson’s example of graft and saying the right things.
