Luton Town must send scouts to watch Spurs star and Liverpool midfielder, here’s why
Luton Town have been disappointing so far this season, but the upcoming January transfer window will give them an opportunity to strengthen their squad ahead of the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
In August, the Hatters would no doubt have been hoping to challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League this season, having finished 18th in the top flight last term, although they currently find themselves in the bottom half of the Championship table.
Luton brought in several new players to be part of the squad that was tasked with mounting a promotion push in the second tier, including Premier League winner Victor Moses, former Arsenal defender Reuell Walters, and Mark McGuinness from Cardiff City in a deal worth up to £10 million.
However, Rob Edwards’ side has not lived up to expectations so far, with a few comprehensive defeats against the likes of Burnley, Middlesbrough and Leeds United, as well as some poor results against teams towards the bottom of the division, such as Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End.
Edwards will be hoping to see the Hatters climb the table during the busy schedule that lies ahead in the lead-up to January, but he may already be casting an eye towards the upcoming transfer window and thinking about ways in which he can bolster his squad.
