As quoted by the South London press, Glasner admitted the initial plan was not to take off Eze.
“It was not his plan, but I was always thinking about it,” said Glasner.
“I mentioned that we have to manage [his injury] – it’s the same with Eddie Nketiah.
“The first sub was Justin [Devenny], who I thought did very well. Eddie needed just 15 or 20 minutes today after his quick return.”
Continuing, Glasner discussed how Jefferson Lerma performed in his first start for weeks.
“It was what we needed. It was Jefferson Lerma’s first start today, many weeks after his injury – he was fantastic today.
Lerma was back to his best, which will be a delight for Glasner who has struggled to get his midfield working this season.
With Adam Wharton still out due to injury, the return to form of Lerma could be a deciding factor over the next few weeks if the Eagles are to get back into some form.
Now out of the relegation zone the Eagles will hope this draw was a turning point in the season – and all signs suggest this is the case.
