Red Wings coach frustrated by refs giving David Pastrnak star treatment
BOSTON — While the Bruins celebrated their overtime victory on Tuesday, several Red Wings players and coaches were voicing their displeasure with the game’s officials as they left the TD Garden ice.
Moments before David Pastrnak set up Pavel Zacha for the game-winning goal, Detroit thought he had tripped Alex DeBrincat coming around the back of the net.
On the replay, it looked like Pastrnak did knock DeBrincat from his feet, but the Red Wing forward was holding Pastrnak’s stick as he went down.
Embattled Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde noted that Pastrnak had drawn two Detroit penalties in the third period, including one that created the power play when the Bruins scored the tying goal.
I don’t know. Special player in the league. He found a way to find himself flat on the ice twice in the third and got calls,” Lalonde said. “He puts someone on the ice and no call. So…”
Pastrnak was shoved to the ice by Ben Chariot near the front of the net creating Boston’s first power play. Justin Brazeau scored moments later.
Pastrnak was also tripped as he turned to go behind net by Erik Gustafsson giving Boston a late power play.
