Frank Lampard facing early Premier League interest in Coventry City star
Coventry City striker Norman Bassette has been watched by Newcastle United, a report from the Daily Mail has revealed.
Coventry City are entering a new era after hiring Frank Lampard on Thursday.
He was confirmed as the permanent replacement for Mark Robins after extensive links and speculation. The former Chelsea and Everton boss will be tasked with leading the Sky Blues back up the Championship table after a poor 2024/25 campaign to date.
Lampard won’t have long to wait for a chance to make his mark on the squad either. January is just around the corner and while new players will be wanted, City will be more than aware that they boast some big assets who could draw interest.
Now, in advance of the window, it is rumoured that one of the newer players at Coventry City is attracting Premier League interest.
The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle United have scouted Belgian attacking prospect Norman Bassette. He only signed for £2.5m in the summer transfer window but the Magpies are monitoring his development and had scouts at the Sky Blues’ clash with Sheffield United last week.
Bassette started and scored in the 2-2 draw, also playing a central role in Anel Ahmedhodzic’s dismissal.
