Hull City injury latest as Andy Dawson discusses incoming boss Ruben Selles.
The Tigers have a hugely important game on Saturday afternoon amid their new manager talk.
Hull City have been given a clean bill of health for Saturday’s showdown with Blackburn Rovers at the MKM Stadium, in what looks like being Andy Dawson’s second and final game in caretaker charge.
Ruben Selles is on the verge of becoming City’s new manager, but it might not be concluded in time for the Spaniard to take charge of the game against Rovers, and instead, left to Dawson to oversee a game the Tigers must win, if they’re to halt their run of five straight defeats amid a run of ten without success.
Cody Drameh limped out of the 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough last Saturday, but has been passed fit to play against in-form Rovers, who have won their last three, including victories at Boro and home to Leeds United.
City will also be able to call upon Charlie Hughes following his one-match suspension, while Steven Alzate could feature in the squad.
“Cody is fine,” Dawson added. “He is a top, top lad Cody. His attitude, application, and professionalism are top; we had a good chat with him on Monday morning. I can’t speak highly enough of him and the rest of the group the way they’ve worked this way, because they’ve got each other’s backs.”
Dawson, along with Conor Sellars and Billy Clarke have led the first team this week in preparing for Rovers, and he says working the players hard and keeping them focused has been key while the manager situation takes care of itself.
“It’s been a really good week, the boys have been really bright. They’ve worked extremely hard,” Dawson said of his squad ahead of the visit of Rovers. “We’ve got a lot of information into them, but I’ve got to say the way they’ve approached training every day, whether that’s in the morning with the analysis that we’ve gone through from the game last week against Middlesbrough and obviously looking forward to Saturday (or out on the grass), the lads have been top, and we’ve certainly enjoyed as a staff working with them and enjoyed watching everything back. Everybody seems to be in a really, really good place.”
