Crystal Palace in transfer tussle to sign Ryan Kent.
Crystal Palace are eager to explore a move for free agent Ryan Kent as two other Premier League rivals are vying for the ex-Liverpool star’s signature.
According to Fichajes, Ryan Kent has been garnering plenty of attention from some of the Premier League sides ahead of January. Crystal Palace are considering a move for the 28-year-old ex-Liverpool forward, while Ipswich Town and Leicester City are also in the mix for the free agent.
Some might remember Ryan Kent for his stint with Liverpool and Rangers after that, as the versatile attacker is now a free agent. The 28-year-old ex-Liverpool forward left Fenerbahce back in October as he was deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho.
Given the timing of his exit from the Turkish side, it was difficult to find a new suitor immediately, as the January window represents the best chance to do that. Leicester City and Ipswich Town are in the race to bring the free agent back to the Premier League, as they view the 28-year-old ex-Liverpool forward as an option that gives them something different in the attacking third as well as improving their depth.
The relegation battlers are eager to take advantage of the unique opportunity to get the forward for no cost whatsoever, although they face competition from Crystal Palace. Oliver Glasner’s side is set for a busy January transfer window and could sign players in a number of key positions.
Palace now view Kent as an opportunity to improve their attacking lineup as well as add to the depth. The London outfit will aim to leapfrog their fellow bottom-half rivals like Ipswich Town and Leicester City, as they could put forward an offer for the 28-year-old ex-Liverpool forward to join them.
Crystal Palace keen on attacking signings
Glasner has had an underwhelming start to the new season, as the attacking players have not performed to their expectations. There was a big gap left by the departure of Michael Olise, as Palace were unable to fill that void. They could sign an attacking player for the wide areas, and hence, the links to Ryan Kent make sense. They are also linked with Mykhailo Mudryk, which does show their priority area for January.
Crystal Palace could also recruit in the attacking midfield area, as well as a wing-back on the left side to add to the depth. Someone like Ryan Kent would make sense, considering the 28-year-old ex-Liverpool forward can play multiple positions in the frontline, including the central berth, as his cost-effective arrival would also suit their finances.
