Leon Draisaitl’s Fiancee Sends Four-Word Message to Oilers Star After Big Night
The Edmonton Oilers are more than just about Connor McDavid. One can’t tell a complete story about the current Oilers without mentioning the name of star forward Leon Draisaitl, who hit a memorable NHL milestone during Thursday’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Draisaitl did not score a goal against the Bruins but his fingerprints were all over the Oilers’ win, as he finished the contest with three points — all via assists. The third and final assist of the 29-year-old Draisaitl helped set up the game-winning goal by Mattias Ekholm. It was also Draisaitl’s 900th point in the NHL, which his fiancee celebrated on social media. “So proud of you!” Desjardins wrote as a caption to an Instagram Story post showing Draisaitl’s incredible accomplishment.
Draisaitl, who entered the Bruins game with 897 career points in the NHL, assisted in Zach Hyman’s second-period goal. He had another helper in the third period resulting in a McDavid goal. Leon Draisaitl, who inked an eight-year contract extension worth $112 million in September, now has 23 goals to go with 27 assists for 50 points in the 2024-25 NHL regular season. He can add to his season and career totals on Saturday when the Oilers host the San Jose Sharks.
