Matheus Cunha’s January transfer stance as Man United ‘prepare for exit’.
Manchester United head into an important January transfer window next week as Ruben Amorim aims for a change of fortune.
Manchester United find themselves firmly in a rut as they creep towards the new year.
Boxing Day’s 2-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers left the Reds sitting just eight points above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Since beating Manchester City in the derby, United have lost three games in a row and are crying out for a stroke of luck to break them out of their poor form.
The January transfer window presents United with a chance to make their own luck by bringing in fresh faces to bolster their squad. In our latest look at the media headlines, MEN Sport analyses the futures of a couple of players who could define United’s next couple of windows.
Cunha’s January stance
According to TBR, Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is not going to push for an exit in the January transfer window despite the likes of United and Arsenal reportedly interested in his services. It is believed that Wolves would be interested in opening negotiations with Cunha over a new contract in the future.
The Brazilian has managed ten goals in 19 appearances for the West Midlands club, the most recent coming directly from a corner against United on Boxing Day.
What MEN Sport says: This is going to be a repeat problem for United in the January transfer window. No club wants to let their top talents leave midway through the season, and unfortunately, the Reds can’t draw on their ‘pull’ this winter, considering where they find themselves in the table. Cunha would have been a great addition, whether he fits the mould of a Ruben Amorim striker is another question. At the moment, though, United could do with all the attacking reinforcements they can muster.
