Leicester City join race for out-of-favour Chelsea star – as Ruud van Nistelrooy looks to strenthen squad ahead of relegation battle.

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has been attracting enquiries from Torino, Monza, Lazio and Leicester City.

The Italian spent half a season on loan at the King Power Stadium in the back half of 2023, scoring three goals in 25 matches for the side ahead of their promotion.

He had progressed through the youth ranks at Inter Milan before joining the Blues in 2022 but he has featured just 17 times for the west London side.

This campaign, he has been limited to five appearances in the UEFA Conference League and just one in the EFL Cup for Enzo Maresca’s resurgent side.

New Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy will be keen to add some composure to his midfield ahead of what is likely to be a tense relegation run-in.

The Foxes currently lie in 19th place after sacking Steve Cooper and have lost their last four matches in the league..

Leicester City have reportedly made an approach to Chelsea to sign one of their midfielders for the current January transfer window.

As we all know and have heard, Chelsea will be looking to make a few outgoing deals during the month of January as we go into another winter window now.

There are a host of players who could be up for grabs, and we are even seeing links to defender Axel Disasi actually being available this month as well now.

But players like Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka are more likely to be leaving this month over any other players in the upcoming window.

Neither player is really getting a look in right now and will surely be seeking to go and play more football in the second half of the season and beyond. Both players have been well and truly frozen out by the club.

Another player who is in the same position is midfielder Cesare Casadei, who is seemingly going to be looking for a new club this month too as he seeks more regular first team football.

According to The Daily Mail this week, Casadei has been attracting enquiries from Torino, Monza, Lazio and Leicester City.

The Italian spent half a season on loan at the King Power Stadium in the back half of 2023, scoring three goals in 25 matches for the side ahead of their promotion.

It doesn’t say what kind of deal they would be looking to do, and whether it would be for a loan or a permanent move, just that an enquiry has been made. So will will have to wait and see what happens here.
