Wolves approached another Portuguese manager before Vitor Pereira, he’s just taken over Champions League giants
Wolves fans are hoping that Vitor Pereira will prove to be an inspired appointment.
It’s been a great start for Pereira since he replaced Gary O’Neil a couple of weeks ago.
He has taken seven points from his first three games, and the team look much more organised and the players look together. Pereira actually became only the fourth Wolves manager to go unbeaten in his first three top-flight games, so he couldn’t really have had a better start.
Pereira has a huge job on his hands to get Wolves well away from the relegation zone though.
Undoubtedly, there will be bumps in the round. But so far, Pereira is looking to be a pretty good appointment, as he’s picked up points and said all the right things.
But seemingly, he wasn’t Wolves’ first-choice, with one outlet claiming that another Portuguese manager was approached by the club before him.
It’s been suggested by Gazzetta dello Sport that Wolves actually approached Sergio Conceicao to be their next manager after they sacked Gary O’Neil.
Conceicao is someone the club have considered a few times previously to take over at Molineux. But it was also claimed last month Conceicao was leaning towards West Ham United.
