‘Let’s see’ – Fabrizio Romano breaks silence as Newcastle United chase £25m deal.
Newcastle United are reportedly no closer to agreeing a deal for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
Various sources have named St James’ Park as a potential destination for the England international. Tomori, viewed as one of Serie A’s best centre-backs two seasons ago, has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro.
The 27-year-old is understood to have fallen out with former manager Paolo Fonseca in October after a furious penalty row. Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham missed two penalties in a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina despite Christian Pulisic being the designated taker.
This led to an impassioned post-match rant and Tomori’s relationship with Fonseca has remained frosty. Just 11 minutes of league action since that result fuelled speculation regarding his future until the Portuguese coach was sacked earlier this week.

Talk about a switch to Juventus surfaced, with Newcastle and West Ham United flying the Premier League flag. A move to Tyneside would make sense, with the Magpies in the market for a centre-back.
His experience at a big club and of playing in the Champions League – as well as a modest £25million price tag – make signing him appealing. Newcastle were famously priced out of Marc Guehi over the summer by Crystal Palace’s steep £75million demands.
Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano now claims Sergio Conceicao, the new Milan manager, is set for talks with Tomori. The new appointment may wipe Tomori’s slate clean and give him a fresh chance this month.
“No news on this so far,” he posted online. “Tomori’s future depends on Sergio Conceicao now, as he was not a key player under former manager Paulo Fonseca. Let’s see what Milan decide to do now with their new manager.
