Has all his belongings packed’ – Brighton player now all set for ‘imminent’ mo
Loan moves to Sevilla rarely work out and Brighton & Hove Albion are the latest in a growing line of Premier League clubs to find that out.
It’s been even more pronounced in recent years, with a series of players, often youngsters, moving with great hope from English sides who wanted to see them progress, only to return in an even worse situation that the one they left.
Similar can be said for Valentín Barco.
After arriving at Brighton in a controversial transfer from Boca Juniors, the fullback wasn’t able to find his way into serious contention for the Seagulls.
He was then sent to Sevilla for this season to get more European football under his belt and a grip of the standard of competition.
That didn’t happen, and the 20-year-old was increasingly surrounded by doubts during his loan in Spain.
Friday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla reports the left-back ‘has all his belongings packed’ and is waiting at home for an ‘imminent move’.
It’s expected Brighton will cancel the Sevilla loan and send him elsewhere, with FC Porto looking a likely destination at this stage.
Wendell Borges has picked up an injury and Barco’s role would be to stand in for him.
