Progress made in West Brom’s new boss hunt with target set.
Albion’s hunt for a new head coach is gathering pace with the club aiming to make an appointment before their next Championship fixture.
It has been two weeks since Carlos Corberan swapped The Hawthorns for Mestalla and sporting director Andrew Nestor, a board member with owners Bilkul, is leading the successor search.
The timing of the former head coach’s departure was a huge blow for the Baggies with a barrage of games over the Christmas and New Year period being led by Damia Abella, Chris Brunt and Boaz Myhill.
Albion have got through a period of five games in 14 days, with a return of eight points from 15, and the fortnight before the next Championship fixture was always viewed as a key period in the process.
It is believed the club have made progress in their search for the next head coach at The Hawthorns. While candidates have been whittled down, the identity of the front-runners remains under wraps with the club having cast their net far and wide overseas, with no experience of the English game a requirement.
“I believe” – Journalist drops John Eustace West Brom claim.
Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace would be open to a move to West Brom should an approach be made, according to BBC journalist Chris Lepkowski.
The Baggies are currently searching for a replacement for Carlos Corberan, who departed for Valencia at the end of December.
Albion will be looking to appoint a coach that can lead the club to another top six finish, with the team in the mix for a play-off place at this stage of the season.
A number of names have been linked to the role, but no clear front-runner has yet emerged amid reports suggesting Eustace is a possible candidate.

Lepkowski has claimed that a move to West Brom wouldn’t be a problem for Eustace, despite the club’s current financial issues.
While he understands that there has yet to be an official approach, he has suggested that contact between the two parties has been made.
“Now, I don’t know whether John Eustace will be pursued in an official capacity whether they will approach Blackburn and go for him” said Lepkowski via The Liquidator podcast.
