The72’s writers offer their West Brom vs Stoke City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

West Brom host struggling Stoke City as they return to Championship action after a disappointing performance in the FA Cup.
West Brom suffered a humbling 5-1 defeat against Bournemouth last weekend, crashing out of the FA Cup. Now though, WBA return to their main objective of securing a play-off place this season.

After Carlos Corberan left the club on Christmas Eve, the Baggies have been inconsistent. However, they haven’t lost in their last three games, including holding Sheffield United to a draw at Bramall Lane.

WBA are just one point outside of the play-off places in 7th place. They remain without a permanent boss after Corberan’s departure but they are closing in on appointing Tony Mowbray, who could return to the club after 16 years.

Stoke City are keeping tabs on Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell, as per a fresh update from reporter Fraser Fletcher.
Stoke City find themselves in another battle at the bottom having finished 16th and 17th in their two previous Championship campaigns. SCFC have won just one of their last 12, though are unbeaten in three as they approach the midway point of the January transfer window.

Having done no business of note so far, aside from recalling Lewis Baker from Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City are said to be eyeing a move for Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell.

That’s according to reporter Fraser Fletcher, who issues the update on X. He states Dowell is on the lookout for a new club after moving to Ibrox in 2023.
