How Coventry City could line-up against Leeds United after transfer deadline day
Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as we take a look at how the Sky Blues starting line-up could look after the January window shuts
With Matt Grimes having completed his move and joining in his first few training sessions with his new Coventry City teammates, all eyes now turn to Wednesday night’s CBS Arena match with table toppers Leeds United.
And the big question on every Sky Blues fans’ mind is will the 29-year-old midfielder go straight into the starting line-up or make his debut from the bench? Certainly, in normal circumstances Frank Lampard might be tempted to stick with a winning team, particularly given his side’s impressive run of four consecutive Championship wins.
But the fact that City have midweek league games either side of Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Premier League Ipswich Town – a match in which Grimes is cup-tied and not allowed to play – means that it makes perfect sense to throw him straight in on Wednesday night. That way Lampard can manage his squad by resting one of his current starters, with either Jamie Allen or Victor Torp likely to make way for the new man.
