Cavs to be without key reserve in Wednesday’s first-half finale vs. Toronto

TORONTO — The Cavs will be undermanned for their final game before the All-Star break.

Reserve guard Ty Jerome is out against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night because of a sore calf. Jerome took a hit to the area Monday night and a source said the injury is minor. Cleveland, like usual, is choosing to be cautious given the extended respite coming.

Max Strus, who did not play in the Cavaliers’ previous game because of ankle soreness, is back in the lineup Wednesday night. Strus will start at small forward while newcomer De’Andre Hunter comes off the bench in a Sixth Man role — the original plan before Hunter made a spot start Monday in his team debut.

Following Wednesday night, the Cavs will be off until Feb. 20, giving Jerome and others more time for recovery.
