Johannes Hoff Thorup admits it is now an anxious wait to see if Gabe Forsyth can resume his Championship debut season after knee injury.
The 18-year-old was the first of Thorup’s new wave to break through after an eyecatching pre-season, with a full league debut in the opening home game against Blackburn in August.
The Scot signed a new, longer term Carrow Road deal a few days earlier, but his season was cruelly put on hold after a knee injury in a 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City on November 2.
Forsyth’s recovery was paused recently when he complained of pain in his knee, and the teenager is now nearing the end of injection therapy.
“We still try to do his rehab and do everything without surgery, because we don’t think, and also the experts that he’s been seeing, they say the same, there’s no need for it,” said Thorup. “But of course, we have to listen to the player when he says that he keeps on feeling pain. We tried another way of going with some injections, one every week for three weeks, and I think he’s having his final one this week.
