Draymond Green, Moses Moody and Team Warriors fall to Team Cavs in Skills Challenge
Moses Moody and Draymond Green put on a show at All-Star Saturday, but the Golden State Warriors came up just short in the Skills Challenge, losing to Team Cavs in the final.
The contest started in hilarious fashion. Team Spurs went first, with their young-and-old (likely) Hall of Fame duo of Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul. And Paul — who spent last season on the Warriors — immediately put his fingerprints on the competition in a way that only he can.
The setup of the challenge is simple. The team’s first player has to make three successful bounce passes into a target, then one successful chest pass. Then they run the length of the court, shoot a wing three, an elbow jumper, and a corner three. They have to make another chest pass, then go back down the court for a layup or dunk, at which point their teammate does the same. The team that accomplishes the relay in the shortest amount of time wins.
But while players have to successfully make all their bounce passes, they critically don’t need to make all their jump shots. Each of the three shot locations is equipped with three balls: make one and you move on, miss and you keep shooting. But if you miss all three you’re allowed to move to the next shot without any penalty.
