Kevin Durant shuts down Ryan Dunn’s trash talk ahead of NBA All-Star matchup

Kevin Durant had exactly the right silencer when Ryan Dunn brought some trash talk into his All-Star press conference ahead of the Phoenix Suns teammates matching up on Sunday.

Dunn, after his team came out on top of the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, will face off against Durant’s Team Shaq in the four-team All-Star Game tournament, and the rook took his scouting duties to Durant’s press availability on Saturday.

“Uh, K? Question for you,” Dunn said from a reporter’s spot before asking about the upcoming matchup.

“I’m locked in on the scouting report,” Durant responded. “Coach told me I was guarding you when we play on Sunday, so I’m looking forward to that.”

“In training camp, you know what happened at training camp,” Dunn retorted.

“I pretty much dominated training camp, and coach named me as a captain ’cause I was dominating,” Durant interrupted. “So I look forward to doing the same thing against you on tomorrow night.”

Seemingly defeated, Dunn let out an, “Alright, see you tomorrow night.”

New format for NBA All-Star Game to make its debut

Durant has played in 11 All-Star games, averaging 24.4 points on 53.9% shooting and 36.2% from three, but this will be his first time playing in a new, four-team format.

“I hate it. Absolutely hate it. Terrible,” Durant said when the league announced the plan in December, though he quickly noted that his initial reaction could have been worded differently.

There are four teams in the tournament: three teams picked by Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley from the pool of 24 All-Stars, and the fourth is Dunn’s team that won the Rising Stars event that will be coached by Candace Parker.
