Ange Postecoglou secures win to ease Tottenham pressure
Before the clash against Manchester United, Ange Postecoglou was under pressure to turn Spurs form around following their defeats in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Talks about the manager losing his job swirled, and reports of the club putting together a three-man shortlist of potential replacements also circulated.

However, despite the pressure, the manager received a significant boost as five of his injured players returned to the starting XI.

James Maddison’s 13th-minute strike proved to be the winner, while heroics from Vicario and Spence contributed to the victory.

Ange Postecoglou makes it into Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week
Following the match, Troy Deeney has put together eleven players he believes stood out this week in his team of the week column for BBC Sport.

In defence, he overlooked Djed Spence, whose man-of-the-match performance was crucial to Tottenham’s victory against the Red Devils. Instead, he opted for three centre-backs: Jan Paul van Hecke, Gabriel, and John Stones.

However, there was room for Ange Postecoglou as the manager of his team. Deeney wrote in his BBC Sport column: “It was a huge game for him against Manchester United, and they had to win it.”

Why Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs looked much better on Sunday
It is no surprise that Spurs looked much better on Sunday than they have in recent weeks and months. Several factors could be responsible for such a significant improvement.

One of them is the amount of rest the players had. Sunday’s clash was the first time since August that Postecoglou’s side had a full week’s break before a match.

Additionally, the return of injured players meant the Tottenham boss could make early changes to keep his squad fresh and maintain high energy levels—a luxury he has not had for quite some time.

Nevertheless, consistency is what matters most. If Spurs can maintain this run of good results until the end of the season, something special could still emerge from a campaign as turbulent as this.
