Darko Gyabi believes Plymouth Argyle positivity can see them to safety
The Pilgrims will continue their fight against Championship relegation away to Luton Town on Wednesday night

It is Darko Gyabi’s 21st birthday today but he is focused on Plymouth Argyle’s fight against Championship relegation, which continues with a hugely important fixture against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road tomorrow night.

The Pilgrims’ three-game unbeaten league run came to an end when they lost 2-0 away to play-off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and they are in 23rd position, one point above bottom-of-the-table Luton.

Argyle have 14 more Championship matches to play this season so there are still plenty of points up for grabs and Gyabi is clear about what the players have to do over that period. “Just stay positive and be ready for anything,” he said. “I think as a team we need to be together, as a club we need to be together as well.

“It’s one thing to know the importance of it but not letting it affect how we are playing. We have to make sure we are switched on and just focused on football, and not let anything – any noise or whatever anyone is saying – get in the way.”

On the Pilgrims’ trip to Luton, Gyabi said: “I think everyone knows the importance of it. We had the game on the weekend and we have looked back at that, and we are also preparing for how Luton are going to set up and play against us. There are details on the pitch that will help us to win and we need to take care of that.”

Argyle were unable to build on their impressive recent league wins against West Bromwich Albion and Millwall, as well as the incredible Emirates FA Cup upset victory over Liverpool, when they went to Blackburn.
