Everton in for second disappointment – Club optimistic of securing long-term future..
On winter deadline day, Sevilla rejected Everton’s offer to sign Juanlu Sánchez on loan until the end of this season without purchase clauses.
Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain that Everton are one of the clubs to have approached the La Liga side for the 21-year-old.
Juanlu Sánchez has less than 18 months left on his contract with a €20m release clause.
Mucho Deporte report the Andalusian club are working on renewing the versatile player’s contract until 2029 and to raise his buyout clause to €40m.
Thursday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla relay that and then share their own updates on this case.
The report again points out the Spain U21 international had opportunities to leave in the winter market when he had offers from Everton and Galatasaray. He continues to draw interest, and the Toffees are still in the mix as per an earlier report from Thursday.
Everton or any other club will find it difficult to sign the player in the summer because his club are accelerating efforts to renew the contract. He currently wears No.26 on his back and will change it to No.16 from next season.
Jesús Navas wore the No.16 shirt this season and it became vacant after his retirement at the end of 2024.
Sevilla are optimistic of retaining Juanlu Sánchez beyond this season and it will be a second disappointment for Everton, after the failure in the winter market.
