2025 NFL Draft and offseason silly season officially begins with Jets-Cam Ward rumor…
As the NFL offseason gets underway, it’s important to take rumors with a grain of salt. You will probably hear the Jets linked with every potential free agent, trade target, and Draft pick under the sun.
Take this rumor which has gaining traction online.
Now a lot of online rumors are just flat out made up. Others meanwhile are wildly taken out of context.
If the Jets haven’t already called the Titans to gauge the price for a potential trade up, they will at some point. The people running the Jets wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t get a sense of what it would take to move up. A cheaper than expected cost to trade up to one could impact Jets strategy in big ways even if they didn’t like Ward.
So we can presume the Jets either have or will get in touch with the Titans. The first statement above very well could be true.
It is quite a leap, however, to then in the same tweet put together a “potential trade package” like that and present it as a remotely likely outcome. The Jets putting in an exploratory phone call to the Titans doesn’t mean they are automatically going to be willing to sell the ranch for Ward.
Look, I’ve been around long enough to know that anything can happen. But the way this rumor has gained steam is out of control. At this point there isn’t much reason to think the Jets will even consider putting together a trade package so extreme.
But in the NFL offseason, rumors like this will be frequent. Just try to vet them before you read too much into them
