Carlton Palmer urges Sheffield Wednesday to take Djeidi Gassama action amid £10m claims
Carlton Palmer has urged Sheffield Wednesday to sort out Djeidi Gassama’s contract as soon as possible, following a season of impressive performances from the 21-year-old.
Signed from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023, the young star showed flashes of potential last season. However, this year, he has consistently emerged as a genuine threat going forward for Wednesday.
Slotting in alongside the experienced heads of Michael Smith, Josh Windass and Barry Bannan, he hasn’t looked out of place and is a pivotal reason as to why the Owls are chasing a play-off spot heading into the final third of the season.

Football League World’s Sheffield Wednesday pundit has suggested the club should demand at least £10 million for him, but with his contract expiring in just under 18 months, achieving this figure may prove challenging.
Nonetheless, Wednesdayites should continue to enjoy watching him, and it would come as no surprise if the Frenchman plays a crucial role in helping Rohl’s side secure a top-six finish.
Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Carlton Palmer revealed how impressed he has been by the form of the winger.
“One of the players who has been instrumental in Wednesday’s form is Djeidi Gassama. He has been very influential for Sheffield Wednesday, having joined them from Paris Saint-Germain last summer,” said the former Wednesday midfielder.
“He had a tough first season at Hillsborough as they battled against relegation, but the 21-year-old still managed to score four goals and provide three assists in 37 appearances.
“This season, he has made significant progress, scoring five goals and registering one assist in 32 appearances, with 23 of them coming from the start.
“He has shown how brilliant he can be at picking up the ball and running.”
