With the return of a certain ‘One Mark Robins…’ on the horizon, talk is beginning to turn as to how best to mark his first time back at the club; how best to strike the balance between saying ‘thank you’ without going over the top and detracting from the job in hand, which is backing his successor and the players to get the three points.

Some will want to do it early, maybe applaud him when he first walks out ahead of kick-off when there might well be a compulsion to sing his name. Others want to leave it until the end when, win, draw or lose, hopefully he’ll be keen to say his good-byes by applauding the loyal support he cultivated, galvanised and enjoyed over the most exciting period of the club’s modern day history.

It’s a delicate one; the vast majority of Sky Blues fans will want to honour and show their appreciation to the man who brought such joy and success over his seven year tenure at the club, which will forever hold a special place in his heart. The fact that he’s coming back to the CBS Arena in charge of a league rival and looking to beat his former club should be a side issue. That’s his job, just as it’s the Sky Blue Army’s role to get behind Frank Lampard and his players on the day.
