Suns Projected to Land Former Lakers Guard as Free Agent Signing..

It has been a terrible season thus far for the Phoenix Suns and they are still trying to improve their roster after the trade deadline. The Suns were unable to make many moves ahead of the trade deadline thanks to their lack of cap space, although they desperately tried to do so. Phoenix made Bradley Beal available for trade, but they were unable to move him due to his no-trade clause and monster contract that other teams were unwilling to take on. Phoenix also surprisingly listened to trade offers for their superstar forward Kevin Durant but elected to keep him through the rest of the year. With that being the case, this could be the last season Durant is in Phoenix as there have been many rumors about him and the Suns parting ways in the offseason via trade. While that may happen, the Suns still have the second half of the season to somehow salvage their terrible start. Phoenix currently sits 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 26-28 record and they are one and a half games behind the Golden State Warriors for the final Play-In spot. With the Suns’ playoff hopes dwindling, they are desperately searching for an answer in either the buyout market

or free agency, and they are currently the favorite to land a former Los Angeles Lakers point guard. According to Bovada, the Suns have the best odds (-120) to sign Patrick Beverley. Phoenix is followed by the Brooklyn Nets (+325), Philadelphia 76ers (+325) and Lakers (+600). Beverley played with both the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers last season, but signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv, a European basketball team, last summer. The two sides recently parted ways though,

which could allow him to pursue another chance with an NBA team. Of course, Beverley is a solid role player, but the real reason why the Suns should be interested in him is his presence in the locker room. The 36-year-old guard is a great leader, which is something the Suns lack. While it is likely that the Suns will stick with their current roster, adding a veteran presence like Beverley could help turn their season around.
