What Nelson Semedo just said about his Wolves contract is very encouraging for Vitor Pereira..

Wolves are wary of several players’ futures heading into the summer transfer window, with club captain Nelson Semedo being one of them.

For all of the hard work Vitor Pereira has done to ensure Wolves steer away from the relegation zone, the tests are only just starting for the new manager.

Several members of the Wolves squad have uncertain futures, whether it be down to contract lengths or transfer interest.

Matheus Cunha’s release clause is being eyed by admirers and he’s not the only one, with Rayan Ait-Nouri also generating interest.

Aside from Wolves having to ward off interest from elsewhere, the club must locate some internal solutions, starting with Nelson Semedo’s next steps.

A number of Wolves players are out of contract in 2025, with club captain Semedo being one of them.

Signed from Barcelona in 2020, the Portugal international has grown over the past few years, paving the way to him becoming captain in a surprise switch of the armband earlier this season.

Regrettably, there’s a feeling that Semedo could leave Wolves for free and become a free agent in the summer but, not all hope is lost just yet.

After the Old Gold’s win over Bournemouth, the defender spoke to the media about his future, insisting that he’s ‘talking’ with the club.

“It’s really good to have the confidence from the coach,” Semedo said, via Express and Star.

“I already spoke to him about my situation, and we’ll see what the future holds. I’ve been talking with the club.”

The right-back’s open admission about being in contact with the club over his future, as well as feeling supported by Pereira, is a positive boost in what is an uncertain period ahead for the 31-year-old.

Pereira is desperate for Semedo to stay at Wolves, and for good reason, as the former Barcelona star has become a focal point of the boss’ plans at Molineux.

While there hasn’t been any indication that the player wants to leave, as Semedo is understood to be open to staying at Wolves, noise is building away from the West Midlands
