Albion boss Tony Mowbray has told his squad not to get bogged down in the hunt for clean sheets.

Mowbray said the previous week he felt a first clean sheet under his management was around the corner and believed his side would be bolstered by Kyle Bartley’s return from suspension next weekend.

After keeping out the lowly Yellows at The Hawthorns, though, Mowbray revealed he told his players not to get caught up in limiting the opposition to no goals.

The striker has already made one appearance for the Baggies, coming on from the bench against Oxford United at the weekend.

The Dane has now spoken to TipsBladet about a host of topics in his career and life. He also opened up about the move to West Brom and explained that he initially didn’t know much about the club.

He said, while speaking about the late transfer to the Hawthorns: “I found out very late. I didn’t know much about West Bromwich, but I knew there was some interest from the Championship. But it wasn’t concrete until the last day, when Soren (Randers Director of Football) reached out to me and told me that there was something concrete that he had been working on.”

Speaking further, he said: “Søren must have known about it, I don’t know 100%, but I know that they knew that there was some interest that I didn’t know about.

“On the last day I was told that there was something I had to take care of and find out if I wanted to, because there was something concrete.”

He described it as a surprise move for himself, saying: “I had been waiting for a long time to get the chance in the Super League, and when that chance came, I took it. I wouldn’t say that this move is surprising to me, because I have always believed that I could go far.

“But that it only took one year, it was of course earlier than I had thought. So it has been a positive surprise.”

The 21-year-old also stated that he faced some visa issues before the transfer to West Brom, but the problems were sorted out just in time.

“The process has been very difficult because I don’t have a Danish passport, even though I was born in Denmark. That has made it a bit difficult in relation to my whole situation.

“Because I don’t have a Danish passport, I couldn’t come directly into England. I had to apply for a visa first, so I had to go to Paris to apply for a visa.”

Bany’s move took quite a lot of effort from all parties and they will all hope things go well for him.

He still only 21 and will see the move to West Brom as the next step on a ladder he’ll hope reaches to the top. Bany needs to shine with the Baggies and repay the faith shown in him.
