Bulls news: Matas Buzelis reveals lofty goal to finish rookie year

Josh Giddey Joins Michael Jordan on Historic List

Josh Giddey is playing the best basketball of his career right now. There is no doubt about that. And he might be about to get paid on his next contract as a result of it, whether it be with the Chicago Bulls or somewhere else. In the Bulls’ blowout win against the Philadelphia 76ers, Giddey put up 25 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. A third-straight double-double for the point guard.

Not only that, Giddey was extremely efficient with his shooting as well. He made 8-11 from the field and 3-3 from three-point range. In the process, Giddey made some Bulls history and joined a prestigious list alongside some of the best ever. Giddey joined Michael Jordan, Jerry Sloan, Clem Haskins and Guy Rodgers as the only Bulls guards with at least three straight 20-point double-doubles.

Many Chicago fans were disappointed when the Bulls traded Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Giddey.

Right now, that trade is starting to feel like a win-win one. While Caruso has helped the Thunder develop into Championship contenders, Giddey seems like someone who can become a centerpiece for the Bulls for years to come. It is worth pointing out that Giddey is still just 22 years of age and he is flourishing right now, after a shaky start to life in Chicago.

Since the departure of LaVine, Giddey has been the Bulls’ best player and by some distance. Last year, it had been suggested that Giddey was seeking a minimum of $30 million annually in his next contract and if he can keep on performing like this, he might not have much trouble landing that kind of a deal.
