Key Sunderland development makes club nervous – Could complicate European side’s plans
On Tuesday, Sunderland announced that January signing Enzo le Fee will be out of action for the next six weeks.
The midfielder has picked up a knee injury and it comes at an unfortunate time, as the Frenchman was impressing for the Black Cats. He’s started every game in the Championship since arriving, playing on the left-wing.
The 25-year-old joined on loan from Roma last month and Sunderland will have the obligation to buy him permanently if they earn promotion to the Premier League.
Gazzetta dello Sport have shed some light on Italian giants’ reaction to Le Fee’s injury.
They state that Roma are tense and nervous about the situation, considering how important the player has been to Sunderland so far. His absence can impact their shot at promotion and this can potentially end the Giallorossi’s hopes of earning a fee of €23m in the summer.
Roma want Regis le Bris’ side to return to the Premier League and they believe that the uncertainty around Le Fee can also impact their finances for the summer.
Perhaps the concern is a little exaggerated in Germany, with Sunderland well placed for promotion and that surely not hanging on Le Fee’s availability or otherwise.
