Depending on who you ask in the fanbase, the New York Jets are either multiple pieces away, or just one/two away from being a true contender in the NFL once again. When it comes to one of the top prospects in the incoming draft class, not only are the Jets not far off, but they are just a quarterback away from doing so. Miami’s Cam Ward believes that he could be the secret to solving their issues. Speaking at the 2025 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week, the 22-year-old made it clear that he believes he’s the missing piece to New York’s struggles.

“The Jets are not too far off, maybe a couple of pieces, I’m hoping that I can be one of them,” Ward said. Ward isn’t the only player who has spoken out in defense of what New York is currently building. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders also has made a point to be interested in coming to the Jets. “It’s easy meeting with people, because I’m just going to be myself,” he said. “You either like it or you don’t because I’ve done that at two locations [Jackson State first, then Colorado] already. So, it’s simple. So that’s why, when people say, I’m not one of the top quarterbacks, or the top quarterback, what are y’all going based off of? Because I did it year after year after year. You see the progression. So obviously, it has to be some type of external hate that you have for the family, for the last name, for anything, because I know I proved myself on the field.” Both Ward and Sanders are the top quarterbacks in this class.
