Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Named Bigger Athlete in LA over Lakers’ LeBron James
With all the stars in Los Angeles, Shohei Ohtani shines the brightest.
In a list of the top 10 biggest athletes currently playing in L.A made by Fox Sports, a few things stood out that Dodgers fans will love, including the reigning National League MVP at the first-place spot.
The Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA world have long been the premier team in the city. Fans will always and have always supported the Dodgers, but due to the constant stars going in and out of the purple and gold uniforms, basketball has usually led in terms of star power.
It’s no surprise here that future Hall of Famer and NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James made this list. It may come as a shock to some that he ranked No. 2.
Although both phenomenal athletes with generational talent in their respective sports, Ohtani becoming the first player to hit 50 or more home runs and swipe 50 or more stolen bases may have been the deciding factor to put him over the top.
Another Lakers player cracked the top-10 in the newly-acquired Luka Doncic. The Slovenian superstar was traded for Anthony Davis, among other pieces, in a seismic trade shaking up the basketball world as he is now at the No. 3 spot.
There was also a fellow MLB star who made the cut that doesn’t wear a Dodgers uniform in the Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout. He is the only member of his team on this list and edged out Mookie Betts for the No. 4 spot.
Right behind Trout was the aforementioned Betts as No. 6, 7, and 9 are all from the NFL.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback and key member of their Super Bowl winning team Matthew Stafford secured the sixth place spot as Los Angeles Chargers up-and-coming quarterback Justin Herbert is at seven.
The Dodgers’ hobbled October hero in Freddie Freeman made it on the list at No. 8. This might be considered a head-scratcher given his recent performance in the World Series.
The ninth slot features Rams star wide-receiver in Puka Nacua as 11-time All-Star James Harden of the L.A. Clippers took the 10th place position.
