‘If I get offered a new deal’ – Sheffield Wednesday star makes contract declaration as expiry nears
Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan is relaxed over his contract fate, insisting he will sign a new deal if offered one.
Sheffield Wednesday are looking to see out a season of progression on a high. SWFC aren’t in great form at the moment, but they’re a far cry from the relegation battle they were embroiled in last season.
There is still a bit of uncertainty over what the future holds with Danny Rohl continuing to draw interest and key players out of contract though.
Among those with deals expiring at the end of this season is Owls captain and influential midfielder Barry Bannan. The Scot signed a one-year extension last summer and to keep him beyond the end of this campaign, a new deal will need to be reached.
The Sheffield Wednesday legend is more than familiar with how contracts work under owner Dejphon Chansiri though, and he isn’t worrying about a new offer not being tabled yet.
Speaking to The Star, SWFC ace Bannan explained he is relaxed over his future and insisted that if a new deal is tabled by the club, he will sign it.
“I feel fine about it,” the Sheffield Wednesday man said.
“My job is to play week-in, week-out for this club and to concentrate on the games. I’ve always found that when I’ve been in my last year before, if you go out and do the business out on the pitch then the likelihood is that you’ll get rewarded at the end of the season.
