Pat Suffo Sees Sky Blues Sneak 3-2 Stoke Win On Mark Robins Return!
Well, what a game yesterday when our ‘special guest’ Patrick Suffo saw a Sky Blues win in the 7th minute of added on time, our second successive Championship five goal thriller! On an emotional day when Sky Blue fans finally had the chance to bid their popular former ‘gaffer’ Mark Robins farewell, the 30,000 fans in the CBS Arena saw a game with MR‘s new charges Stoke City full of ups and downs.
When Pat toured the supporters lounges pre early kick-off (12.30pm given the presence of SKY Live cameras) doing Q&As with our former striker’s fellow CCFPA member, ex CCFC defender (and now their long serving match-day host) Brian ‘Harry’ Roberts few would have predicted that CCFPA’s now Honorary Member Mark Robins and his team would return to the Potteries empty handed after matching the Sky Blues for much of the game. A video excerpt of one of these Q&As will be found in due course on CCFPA’s Facebook page here.
Frank Lampard‘s men, without being the better side, had found themselves two goals to the good over the Potters at half-time (with a smart brace from returning Dane Victor Torp (one a header one a sweet strike) not to mention Josh Eccles hitting the woodwork and a more than reasonable penalty shout denied by the officials! Patrick got a great reception during the half-time break when he was introduced to the crowd entering the pitch for a friendly wave!
